Chocolate Muffins

 

The origins of muffins can be traced back to ancient times. Although the exact origin is still debated among food historians, it is believed that the concept of muffins was first developed by the early Romans. These early muffins were more like bread loaves and were made using ingredients like wheat, barley, or oats.

Over time, the recipe evolved, and the concept of individual-sized muffins emerged.

In the 18th century, Muffin Men were known to roam the streets of England, selling freshly baked muffins door to door. The Industrial Revolution brought further changes, as muffins became more accessible with the invention of baking powder.

Today, muffins come in countless flavors and variations, ranging from classic blueberry or chocolate chip to savory options like cornmeal or bacon. Regardless of their origins, muffins continue to be a beloved and timeless treat enjoyed by people all around the world.

And of course, chocolate muffins had to come to an existence, that was obvious, right?

Chocolate muffins, those delectable confections that never fail to please, are not confined to a mere morning indulgence or an after-dinner delight. Each delightful morsel of a freshly baked chocolate muffin offers an unparalleled moment of sheer happiness as the tender crumb effortlessly dissolves in your mouth, delighting your taste buds with intense joy.

Sift the cocoa powder, then add instant coffee and hot milk and whisk until lump-free.

Stir in sugar, oil, one egg, sour cream and vanilla.

Sift together flour, baking soda and a pinch of salt, then mix it into the batter until just incorporated.

Fold in the chocolate chips, then divide the batter between muffin moulds and fill each one up to 3/4 of the way.

Bake in a preheated oven at 210°C/410°F for 5 minutes. Then turn the oven down to 180°C/356°F and bake for another 20 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.
