Chocolate Chip Cookies
A chocolate chip cookie is a cookie that features chocolate chips or chopped chocolate as its distinguishing ingredient. They originated in the United States around 1938, when Ruth Graves Wakefield chopped up a Nestlé semi-sweet chocolate bar and added the chopped chocolate to a cookie recipe.
Everyone has that favourite chocolate chip cookie recipe that they swear by, and this is definitely mine! I could literally eat these all day long, every day of the week!
They can stay fresh for a good couple of days, probably even a week, in a closed container, but I wouldn’t count on that because they’re already gone the first day! And you can make more dough in advance and just freeze it in batches, and just thaw it at room temperature when needed.
Just like your favourite storebought cookie!
With a mixer mix cubed room temperature butter until creamy, then add sugar and mix for 2 minutes.
Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating the batter in between until combined.
Then add flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt, then combine with your hands.
Stir in chocolate chips and mix the dough until incorporated.
Shape the dough into small balls, then press them slightly between your palms and spread out on a lined baking sheet.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C/356°F for 15 minutes, then leave at room temperature to cool down.
